IoT America and the University of North Texas Announce Collaboration to Strengthen Innovation

FRISCO, TX (December 19, 2019) – Internet of Things America LLC (IoT America), a pioneer of IoT managed services for rural and underserviced areas, and the University of North Texas® (UNT), a globally renowned Tier-One research university that regularly ranks among the nation’s top 100 schools, announced today their collaboration to provide technology knowledge transfer, mentoring and internships at UNT’s Inspire Park in Frisco.

UNT opened Inspire Park as a hybrid classroom and business incubator space in October 2018 and actively supports the advancement of Frisco’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by working to invigorate new business and develop a venture corridor in the North Texas region.

“IoT America is thriving and serves as an example of the direct result of the innovation ecosystem we set out to cultivate in Frisco,” said Mike Rondelli, associate vice president of innovation and commercialization at the University of North Texas. “They have attracted significant investment to launch their innovation, and now we are helping them scale up their operations by leveraging their technology business expertise and the University’s research resources to create a larger impact.”

Recently, IoT America announced the launch of the nation’s first IoT Soil Monitoring Managed Services. Because more than 70% of the world’s drinkable water is used for agriculture, water conservation and resource management are vital. These managed services are based on precision agriculture solutions and are designed to support businesses of all sizes in rural America, including agriculture, oil and gas, transportation, healthcare, education, sports and municipalities. For example, as part of IoT America’s service, farmers can use soil moisture sensors as part of irrigation scheduling during the critical growing season, and then track improvements of water-holding capacity year-to-year during the winter.
